This will be my first father's day. Before becoming a father, i prayed to my heavenly father to fix my broken heart from the absence of my earthly father that i may be a great father to my child. It's funny because for 28 years i had anger towards my father and at the moment of birth of my daughter, the anger for a man i never knew was gone. A fathers love for his child is special. My job as a man changed. I am now a protector, a provider, and a teacher. God made man in his image, his likeness. The bible says, "for it gives your father great happiness to give you the kingdom." A father is giving and generous, but he will not give to the point of destruction and hindrance. Most men give things to show his love, but i have learned that giving does not replace time and attention. Be your child's hero. Kids are easily satisfied. So don't over think things. Be there. Be goofy. Be caring. You be DADDY forever. Brotha's stop letting your baby mama be an excuse to be an absent father. It's selfish to have a fatherless child. Daddy's love is something the mother can't give. Something that shapes and moods a child. Fellas stop being baby daddy's and more fathers. Less about the mother's and more about the child. Happy father's day to ALL men even the absent men.
